October 3, 2014, 8:40 am Scam artists who claim to be from the IRS. The first call ended up leaving a message with a strange case number. The second call was more ridiculous as they flat out tried to lie to be about being from the IRS and that I had to pay back taxes or I would be arrested. They demand immediate payment with threats so that's should be a tip off to anyone suspicious of this number. They have accents that I would describe as being from India or Pakistan. November 26, 2014, 8:47 am The IRS does not make calls like this. You would first get documentation in the mail clearly stating your obligations. They would probably initiate some other kind if legal proceedings to get your money if they were legit. These people are young scumbags from India trying to pull a trick on you. Fear is their weapon. December 7, 2014, 10:31 pm I started asking questions to the guy phoning me so I could clarify the debt and fijnes he said were owed and then he hung up. Clearly this is a fraud operation that preys on people being afraid and quickly handing over money. Further research indicates that this is a scam that the IRS has stated they have no involvement with. They don't make calls like this. They "Phish" for people to "help". But you actually can do this straight with the IRS if you owe money. So they are trying to get money for something you can do on your own. September 24, 2015, 11:03 pm Totally fake IRS con-artist at work. They will lie about back taxes or tax evasion you need to pay up on. Just extortion tactics by Indian criminals using ip phones direct from India. The real IRS has made public messages about this kind of call. They don't threaten people over the phone and certainly don't ask for pre-paid cards as the method of payment. They would ask for a check to the IRS address. They are criminals using massive robo-dialers to randomly find victims and threaten them with legal action or jail time for non-payment of fictitious debts. You will be scammed if you fall for this trick. Fear and time is the biggest tool they have to trick you so be patient and hang up. January 14, 2016, 8:51 pm They are from Pakistan, not India. I was arguing with the guy who called, mentioned stop calling from India, he got furious, was stuttering and sputtering, said he was from Pakistan, not India. Said he would send officers from the local Sheriff's Dept. to arrest me, too bad he named a Sheriff who had been out of office for years! Likely the money they extort supports terrorism.
