October 24, 2014, 2:36 pm Claimed they were calling on behalf of SM Advantage Card, and that they have this Young Start Premiere program exclusive to members. In affiliation with Manulife, offering insurance at P300/month. She also asked for my birthdate, address and credit card info, pero I told her I was not comfortable giving it over the phone. I asked her to give me an office address but she didn't give an exact address, and went on to say I won't get the discount if I go directly to the office. November 5, 2014, 3:20 am Caller was offering a promo with my credit card. He said I will get 1000 pesos allowance per day of hospitalization. I would have to pay a premium of 1,200 per month and this will be charged to my credit card. I searched the net for similar incidences because I had a feeling this is a scam. May 20, 2015, 10:32 pm I had this number saved on my contacts under prudential. Dont really remember the last call because I dont really entertain calls like this. Then days after, they called again. To save battery, i answered right away to let them know that im not interested to cut the call right away but got confused when the lady told me shes from bpi. She was asking me for my birthdate. I have doubts so I told her im not comfortable giving infos over the phone. She told me i should update my infos by calling 89-100. Weird. Do bpi really call to ask us to update our info over the phone? I can do this anytime on expressonline without them telling me. Seems like a scam To me. September 8, 2015, 5:34 am Someone called me saying that I have chosen to get a BPI credit card with lifetime free annual fee and I can get an adidas bag without a requirement of purchasing anything in any sm malls. All i need to give is a copy of my ID which convinced me to give via e-mail. Call me again today and asking additional info but i scold her saying that yesterday you said that all you need is a copy of my valid ID and why asking me so many questions today. The caller claimed that he was calling on behalf of "SM Advantage Card" and he was offering insurance benefits that, according to him, will be covered by SM Advantage Card for a fee that will automatically be debited from my credit card on a regular basis. He also mentioned that the application should be done over the phone because no one will entertain me if I go directly to SM. The caller immediately ended the call after I told him that I don't usually give personal information over the phone since it was an incoming call. November 14, 2015, 9:49 pm Gosh, someone from that number (7193840) called last week and asked my information over the phone, however instead of me supplying them with answers, it was my mother! As I was applying for a credit card of BPI, I though it was normal since they do said that they will call me someday (BPI facebook page). So all along I thought...I given them my DOB and address and where am I working (scary af) and they sent an email too where they attach the fill out form which I didnt open (was using mobile then) and which I didnt bother to open via pc. They said that if I will not send a copy of my id and payslip within three days, they would call again on which they dont. I am more keen on answering that call so that I'm the one who could hear them and ask for grace period. Thank God I was lazy too bother with finding computer shops with scanner. Then I read these comments. I remembered filling up a survey form online recently as a "requirement" before I can get the cheats I need for this game simcity. Perhaps they got my number from that. However, I was busy attending to a client at that time so I informed the other person that it would be better if he calls again at 4:00 p.m. that day. He did not call back that day. Today, February 9, 2016, I was not able to take the call from the person who was using the same landline number. Since I was not able to save the number and fearing that it might be an important call, I tried to search the number in the internet and I realized that I could have been a victim of scam. March 13, 2016, 8:39 am i also received a call from an unknown number from manila area code. Someone called up and said she's from Manulife and that since I'm an SM advantage card holder, i am qualified to enroll/apply sa kanilang policy/insurance called "Young Start Premiere". At first talaga i was hesitant to entertain the telemarketer but eventually, na convince nya ako. I admit, she's good in sales talk hahaha. And after that, i eventually applied for the insurance. Nag doubt nga ako baka it's a scam or something. So 2 days after, di na tlga ako mapakali kaya i inquired at Manulife customer care assistant if they have such policy/plans/insurance offered to SM advantage card holders. I felt so relieved when she confirmed that its true. But still, if you're in doubt talaga, better wag nlng kayo mag enroll via phone calls, mas better kung dun talaga kayo sa office nila or sa friends nyo na agents for insurance companies that offered the same services. Sa panahon ngayon na kumakalat na ang mga scammers and identity thieves, mas better talaga pag sigurado. So that's all sa experience ko. salamat. I was bothered about the call if it's important or what because the other day i also got a phone call using a different number looking for my name. The caller asked me if I have an account with BDO, any credit or atm card from BDO. I thought it was legit, unfortunately I have no accounts with BDO. when I said I am still a student, she ended the call quickly. I'm actually scared on how were they able to get my infos. March 29, 2016, 4:04 am I also received a call from this number about my credit card blue application and funny cos they are asking me to send my itr , bir, pay slip and an id! They gave me bpi's hotline number and they also gave me the email address which is correct! However i did not bother sending cos i am not working atm. I jist resign. And second is i dont recognize the number as from bpi. I tried calling them back however the line seems not working... I do not know if they are companies trying to refer you to banks? May 30, 2016, 8:13 am They called me last Saturday (May 28,2016) - 3PM. They said I'm eligible for a BPI Credit card since they know that I have an existing BPI E-Prepaid mastercard for a year. They asked my infos (Bday, address,SSS,TIN). Unfortunately I provided those info's to them. :( I hope they can't hack it my account. :( Keep safe guys!
