Automated robocall telling me that I had won a free cruise, but in the end they wanted to charge me $99 as the booking fee for a confirmation number for the offer. No cruise tickets being sent to you. be careful here as I've not read one legit story about anyone feeling good about this offer. Everyone seems to hang up or get ripped off.

These scammers want to charge you $99 for a cruise booking fee when there is no guarantee of the cruise being booked at all. You get a confirmation number. I listened to the whole call before hanging up and permanently blocking them.

This is a very famous free cruise telemarketing call. All automated. They offer the cruise for free, sometimes as a way to get you to do a survey. But the catch is after they offer the cruise for free they then they to charge you a $99 or more booking fee to secure the cruise trip. Sometimes they may try to sell you something even more expensive. In the end it's a sales call

Free crusie trip to the Bahamas is the scheme here. No idea if this is legit or not, but as other comments have suggested you do not end up with a tickets or a real booking, just a booking fee and confirmation number. Wouldn't waste money on vacation deals by phone. If you want to take a vacation then go call a travel agent and get a professional to set you up.

I just received a call from 347-541-0256 on my cell phone congratulating me...and then I hung up....SPAM!!! My cell is supposed to be on the Do Not Call registry...I want to report them. There's been an uptick in this kind of activity and calls to my cell lately, very frustrating.

Missed the call. Thought it was someone else. Called back, recording plays that says "this verizon number has changed or been disconnected." This is a sign that this is from some kind of call centre that is making a large amount of outgoing calls only or that all the numbers on the caller ID are being spoofed and so calling back is just being redirected to a planned non-existant number.

A man called thanking me for my visit at their vacation resort and now was offering a second free stay and a free trip to Orlando that would require me sharing some personal information. I've not stayed at any resorts in the last 4 years so this is either a wrong number or an illegitimate caller.

Some form a "Service Department" called to thank for my interest and recent stay at their vacation resort and told me I was selected to received a free return stay at the vacation resort which was in Orlando Florida. No idea what they are talking about. I haven't been on vacation recently and I quite certain I would remember doing so :) This seems to be some kind of cheesy gimmick.

When you respond, ("WHAT customer service dept?") the voice goes on and it's clear it's a recording. Whenever they don't give a company name, you know it's not legit! BLOCKED!

Scam caller with a recording claiming I've won a free cruise. I immediately hung up. When I call back the number using *67 I receive a Verizon recording that the number is no longer in service. Use the national do not call registry to block them and alert the FTC of their actions: https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

A taped message that says I won a free cruise. Anyone that calls you with messages of free stuff is a con-artist of some kind and the fact that this is an automated call should tell you how much a lowlife con-artist they are. They don't even have the nerve to speak to you direct and instead arrogantly have machines so all the cheating for them. Junk call.

347 541-0256 called us again, then hung up as usual. Reported them to the police, which I suggest anyone reading this do too. There are too many nutcases out there with easy access your private info, phone numbers, address, your children's school info, etc, to risk your family's lives. Turn these creeps in.

Scumbags offering a free vacation at a resort I recently stayed at. Only problem is I haven't stayed at any resorts lately, so that should tell you what kind of call this is. Total nonsense random salescalls with lowlife lines designed to trick you into buying timeshare slots or bargain vacation (at least they call them bargains). Best to avoid this number.

Same free vacation computerized call. It was a woman's voice. The message will repeat if you avoid asnwering or pushing any buttons. I just listened to it until it repeated and then I hung up. Some kind of automated scam or shady sales call that starts off my saying "Congratulations, you won a free cruise" and the goes on about answering a survey which I believe is just a sales ploy to get you all motivated to go on vacation before they drop a "discounted price" for the vacation on you so you feel stupid not paying for it. Just a sales call.

Nationwide sales calls for vacation and resort packages. May also be a cheap way to trick people into answering survey questions. I do believe survey questions are a part of this call one way or another. They may offer a free cruise or vacation, but I think that is all nonsense because in the end there will be some kind of fee related to the vacation and that is where the sales call becomes obvious.

Fraudulent IRS callers that will make threats of arrest if you don't pay bax taxes or settle up on your tax evasion. They will ask for prepaid money transfers and that should be all the evidence you need that this is fake IRS call. The government is very careful about how the communicate and ask for money. You will get official letters more than once and even with registered mail before they get serious with you.

Telemarketing scheme. I have no idea if this is a scam or some shady sales call. They will offer an free cruise for completing a survey. The message is automated which sets off a red flag for me right away combined with the "free vacation" offer. Anything automated calling you with free offers is very risky in my view. I didn't complete the call, but from my research they end up trying to sell you cheap vacations with hidden taxes and fees. So it's not really free in the end no matter what. Scam or not.

A got a voicemail with the Free Cruise Scam on it. Not sure if it's actually a scam, but it was mentioning how I would be given the free cruise to the Bahamas if I answered a survey. I never bothered to call them back and don't take this offer seriously. Free is never free anymore. Research has shown that this number will actually try to sell you a vacation cheaply with taxes that need to be paid so it will not be cheap and require you to pay for your own hotel.

I have received many calls from this number, most while I was not home, but evident from the phone log. The one time I answered out of curiosity, the voice asked me if I could hear him okay. I tried to say, 'remove our number from your list', but the voice kept talking over me, so I hung up. Then I got another call came from the same number and I said something about reporting it, and the call hung up. I l called the number back and Verizon told me it was a disconnected number. (A week before, from a different phone number, a female voice announced I had won a cruise, I hung up immediately.) I made up an ans. phone msg to warn other people about this phone number.

Got a call from this number today. I don't answer unknown numbers with strange area codes so I don't know what they were calling for. Only 1 from this # so far but been getting a ton of calls from unknown numbers recently. I'm on the do not call list.

To answer anonymous' question "how can we receive a call from a number that's no longer in service?" the number is likely spoofed. This means that the number you see on your caller ID is not the number they're calling from. Caller ID spoofing is not just used by criminals so they can't remove it completely.
For example, when you call your doctor after hours, the on call doctor doesn't want you to see their private home number when they call you back, so they have it display the office number. Other doctors will just block their number but this isn't a good solution because people don't know who it is and it also makes it possible for someone to get around the caller ID block and learn their home phone number. If it displays some sort of phone number instead of saying "restricted" or "unknown", people will just assume that's the number they're calling from.

Received a call today at 12:30 that I am being sued by the iRS. An automated voice was on the other end and they have been trying to get in contact with me and I need to call back this number. The first number was 718-303-2594 then it was 347-541-0256. Both are scam numbers. Someone needs to put a stop to this.

Verified scammer. The IRS doesn't make these kinds of calls. Threats are not something you will get an government agent doing casually. They get fired for that kind of stuff because it's unprofessional and illegal. Letters is most likely what you would get over a period of years before they threaten you with legal action or arrest. Don't be a fool.
