Responded to Rutherford Kylie Ellis's Roomster ad regarding a sublet in New York. Terrible English, including the exact text that Robert posted above. So glad I googled this!

In my case the automated system (when I called it back) said that it was from the Banana Republic Bank and then they asked me to enter in my card number into the phone. If they call you direct and asked for a cc# that would be suspicious as outgoing calls rarely do that if they are legit. But, if you had to call the number back and it asked for your cc# then this is much more likely to be legit. If you don't have a store card then try to speak to an operator to be removed.

I got a letter from these people and a few phone calls as well. Doesn't seem to be a legit debt collection company. They were calling about my brothers debt. They make fake letters to give the appearance of being a real creditor. Don't fall for it. If they are a legal company then they are not acting legal. Ascension Point is the name on the letter.

877-813-1264 in FL. Some tech support charge of $19.95 showed up on our bank statement under my wife's card. She never even purchased anything, nor did I and we don't have DISH network. So we have a case with the local PD and we cancelled our cards. Hopefully we will get the money back.

Fake tech support criminals spoofing (faking caller id) the tip top tailors phone number to disguise they scammy ways. These types of scams are often prosecuted by the FTC and they force refunds in the millions of dollars because the call is one giant misleading sales call to force technical support subscriptions on you by pretending to be a helpful assistant. They need you to believe them so you will buy stuff from them after they fake the virus repair.

A scammer called regarding a lawsuit that was going to be filed against me for tax evasion and fines that were left unpaid. They said I needed to call them back immediately and begin the payment process ASAP to avoid the lawsuit and possible prosecution for tax evasion. They wanted money paid with a prepaid card from the local walmart. This sounded very unlike the government to me. very sleazy method of payment for a gov agency.

Telemarketing scheme. I have no idea if this is a scam or some shady sales call. They will offer an free cruise for completing a survey. The message is automated which sets off a red flag for me right away combined with the "free vacation" offer. Anything automated calling you with free offers is very risky in my view. I didn't complete the call, but from my research they end up trying to sell you cheap vacations with hidden taxes and fees. So it's not really free in the end no matter what. Scam or not.

A woman called and told me that I needed to phone her back at her office by 5:30pm about a very important personal matter. Appears to be a debt collection company, but I have no idea what debt I could have. I have an excellent credit score and all debts are paid as far as I know. No letters have come in the mail either. Big question mark for me. Not going to waste time with them until I get a letter.

Someone from the "Federal Tax Board" called and said that I was going to be sued or prosecuted for my tax evasion and I would be very smart to pay back all the avoided taxes immediately to save myself from embarrassment. They sounded like they were from Indian. Deep accent that was obviously not American.

The person calling claimed to be from IHG Holiday Inn Rewards. This person had no information about my past Holiday Inn visitation history and then proceeded to transfer me to a woman who wanted to offer me a free weekend getaway. It felt very suspicious so I had to hang up on them.

I got a call from this number and they wanted my bank details and i said am I busy and then the woman dropped the phone. Very unprofessional for a bank to act like this so I would not trust this number.

They (specifically Jason Sybert, extension 5167) called my mom and aunt's business incessantly for a month, then my mom SHRIEKED at him to never call again. He called back. I answered and said, "I'm pretty sure my boss just told you not two minutes ago that we are not interested and to not call again." I hung up on him. He waited a few months and tried again...same guy. Mom told him she would call the police because of his harassment and hung up. He's obviously quite dim, because he called right back, causing mom to simply scream into the ... Read More

A really strange call that said "this is the return call regarding the back brace you saw on TV" when I haven't seen anything of the sort on tv or bothered with any online forms. No idea how they got my phone number and I will be blocking this call from now on.

Fake calls from the IRS and they make threats of being prepared to arrest you and sue you if you don't make swift and immediate payments to them using prepaid cards such as a green dot card. This is absurd as the government will never request payment using a green dot card. They would want a certified check if the tax debt is large. These people are fly-by-night con artists hoping for easy victims.

Magicjack scammers trying to trick me that I have problems with my computer security and need their assistance to solve the problem. They sounded like they were Indian in ethnicity. I have heard all kinds of news reports on tv about this nonsense so I played with the person until they got so frustrated with me never hacking my own computer they yelled at me before hanging up.

In my case I am getting calls from this number demanding repayment of student loans. This is not possible as I've already paid off my student loan years ago to the bank I received it from. I have receipts for this. So this is a very dishonest caller or a very misinformed caller with bad information. I am going to guess it's a scammer as that seems the most plausible in this case. There is simply no way they could mistake my name for an old loan when it was never in arrears at all.

This is Living Giving Moments. Perhaps, the stupidest business name I have ever heard for a survey company. Sounds more like a charity. They are probably gathering personal information to on consumer habits to sell to governments or other businesses.
There are more numbers known to be used by this company that is conducting surveys.

This is "Avatar Homes" a real estate company of some kind. I've never done business with them in the past so I couldn't comment on their legitimacy or what the call all about. I didn't pick this call up and there was a hang up message on the voicemail. Hope that helps someone else. I can only assume that this is some kind of home selling or free valuation call offer. Can't verify that.

A debt collection call from a "CSS" which is really just a old junk debt collector. They make their money buying up debt for a fraction of the debt cost and then using whatever means necessary to scare people into paying them. It's a very profitable business to be in if you can do it right and scare enough people into paying you. The debt they discussed with me is much too old to respect anymore so I will be ignoring their calls from this point on.

This is a telemarketing company called "SSI" which specializes in surveys and consumer data collection. They are located in Brighton, Colorado. They have a website at http://www.surveysampling.com/en and you can out out of these calls by writing an email to email@example.com or by calling 1-866-360-9563 within North America. 1-801-379-4094 for people outside North America.

I think I did a bad thing. I got a call from this Indian man and he had me press the windows and R button, simultaneously and he got into my computer. He looked at my granddaughters picture and said she was a beautiful little girl! I'm sick about falling for this! what should I do? What could be taken off of my computer?

My husband calls me with a calling card at a pay phone and this is the number that appears in my call display. All of these "scams" and fraudulent claims to this number may not realize that the phone number isn't necessarily tied to any one company or caller. Also calling cards would be untraceable for illegitimate callers.

when calling this bogus number back I reached a machine that said hello a couple of times, then "Julia" welcomed me from pay day loan corporation. At the end of her message - I could press a number to get more info, but most importantly, I could press 9 to no longer receive their calls. Press 9 quickly after she starts and it disconnects you instantly! yippee!

I have received multiple calls from this number over the last few days. This number and about a dozen others. I'm on a DNC list....and I have no idea why I'm getting this barrage of calls in the last week. I don't answer, but let me tell you how annoying it is! It's almost 2:30 in the after noon and I have received 13 UNKNOWN NAME phone calls today alone. It is way out of hand!! (they were not all from this number....on to the next #'s on the list).

This douche bag Mark Johnson owner of some lame company called "no debt finally" sounds like an old geezer running a scam leaving voicemails telling people they can make up to $10,500 just returning calls? Really??? Who believes this crock of shit??? BTW, he's using another number he's calling from:
(858) 208-4414 so be careful.... This scum bag scammer should move out of our country, the U.S. and hide somewhere else! Idiot!!!!

The caller is the "Senior Depot" and they are calling to sell you medical alert devices for elderly people. It's some kind of monthly subscription scheme that offers the device for free with only shipping required (sometimes free shipping is offered as well) and then they add to this with $3000 in grocery coupons to make it difficult to resist the offer.

Calls come in several times but never leaves a message. I've just picked phone up and walked away, just to put back on hook after a few minutes. No more...blocked the number. I figure if a call is legit they will leave a message. Living in Indiana, have never heard of Love Ministries or whatever they're calling themselves.

Indian sounding lady tried to ask me to turn on my computer due to active virus activities being reported and she would fix for me. I said why would you be concerned about my problems and she had no good answer. I said I don't think my computer had any problems and she hung up.

A timeshare company with really bad practices. BBB is after them with complaints from consumers. Too many calls and no fulfilled promises on their vacations. Looks to be a complete rip off scheme to make money selling timeshares and I guess they just always get away with never giving anyone their vacation so they keep running this business until they do get caught. Must be nice to be a dishonest person today.

I got an sales call from a home security salesman. The man told me that I had won $1500 in home security services which included installation of the free system. There is of coarse monthly payments after, but what they don't tell you is that most home security companies will give you the system for free anyway. It's the monthly services where these companies make their money. Just lies about free stuff that isn't free so you'll buy something

I received a threat from Joel Thomas this morning. He told me that I have criminal charges pending from an unpaid credit card with a company I've never heard of before. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he told me that he is the supervisor. I also requested he mail me verification that I owe a debt and he claimed he mailed me a notice several weeks ago and refused to resend them to me. I believe he is not a real attorney.

A telemarketing sales call that said I had won free tickets for a vacation. The woman said I didn't need to buy anything and she just needed to put me on hold for amoment to get her manager. I rejected her offer and politely hung up. Don't believe a word I heard. Always trying to sell something. The manager part is a new one for me. They are getting clever at trying to sound real.

This was paypal calling to inform me about a negative account balance on a second account that was in my name. The account is fraudulent and now paypal is investigating. If you don't trust this number then call payapal yourself (recommended anyway) to be 100% certain about your account status.

If you get a call from this number, it's not the IRS - it's a SCAM...do not give any information to them. The IRS does not make threats like this and demand payment over prepayment cards...those payment methods are untraceable. The real government would also send you letters in the mail and not waste time with scary calls like this using such a casual method of payment.

got 3 messages yesterday from this number. it sounded like a recording & the first part was cut off on all 3 messages. but it was something about a lawsuit to be filed at my local courthouse if i did not call them immediately. sounds like the same type of scam that was going on several months ago claiming to be IRS.

This call scared me. My husband recently passed away and I am now a single mom. So them threatening me and asking for lawyer information was a shock. Told me I was sent notifications (which I hadn't) and wouldn't give me a direct answer to who I owed money. Only that the amount was $960 and it was from a looking time ago. This is a potential scam artist. They will call and say they are from ADT home security and mentioned issues with your home security system. They may be trying to trick you into telling them if you home has a security system or not, that may be the real intention of the call so they can try to figure out where you live from the public phone book and then case your house later on to be ready to rob it when you aren't home.

This was an extended education spam call. They want to offer me access to enrollment in an online college. I can only assume that my personal information was collected off a jobs posting site as I was looking for a job a month or two ago. I have since found a job and have no use for the extended education offers. I probably would never use an online school anyway. Not respectable enough.

I got a call from a man today that said he was from a Trade Magazine and wanted to offer my company a free subscription to his magazine. Wanted contact and address details quite quickly. When I refused to help him he asked to speak to someone from the IT department and then the manager. Eventually, I had enough of him and hung up. He called back 10 minutes later trying to get someone else to co-operate with him. Wasn't having it on my watch.

This is an African scam artist I met online. He said he lost his wallet and needed me to send me two payments of $250 and $950 so he could get his life back together buy flying into the USA and keeping his job. I wasn't buying into the story at all. It sounds much like other comments, too be a professional con artist that sits around in Africa all day at his computer trying to find desperate people to trick. Automated card skimmer. Pros. They are running an automatic random dialer to people's homes and then playing faked messages about being from your bank's card services department with a message about special offer for reduced credit card rates because you are special customer or have extra special good credit rating. This is a complete lie and they are well-known to bill people nearly $500 once you enter in your card number with the touchtone pad.

These are scammers, they never leave a message, they have been reported to the state general, we will never pickup on these phony scam numbers, fact is we do not need a phone and is being disconnected at the end of the week, if they want something let them send a regular mail letter, nonthing will ever be signed.

Automated machines with womens voices named Rachel Or Carmen. They offer reduced APR rates on your credit card. They need you to type your number into the phone using touchtone so they can record your number. They lie to you that this is for verification purposes when the real intention is to automatically bill your credit card hundreds of dollars while gambling that you will not complain about the charge if you don't see your bill. Lots of people don't check their bills regularly so a lot of people end up paying these criminals. Bad word out there.

The company calling is called "Equinox" and they may have been contracted by the banks or some other company to make these calls. Often this number will try to sell you credit card protection services. I choose to simply hang up and call the bank direct. TD will tell you that this is not someone they directly deal with. They called me a second time, but I chose to ignore this time.

Some kind of job offer from a loan company called "Circle Finance" and they told me they had a good salaried job available for me and then wanted to send me the address later on for a quick interview. No sms text came later on for me and so I feel stupid for giving them my number. From now on I will not trust these job offers and recommend that nobody else does either.

Life insurance sales call. They came up with a lame way to make you believe they are trying to help you with a fake review of your current policy. They are just a hungry insurance company looking to get people to switch companies. If you have a reputable company already I would suggest you stay with them as phone calls are a bit risky in my view.
